Electric customers served by the City can take advantage of My Energy Planner, an online system that shows how to reduce energy consumption and lower your electric bills. This system is designed for both homeowners and renters. It only takes about five minutes to answer some basic questions about your home. You will then receive a customized report offering ideas to help you manage your energy usage. The report includes a chart showing how you use electricity in your home, plus estimates of your electric bill in both kilowatt hours and costs on a daily, monthly, and yearly basis. Home Energy Audits
The City offers free home energy audits to its residential electric customers. The home energy audit is conducted on-site and takes about an hour. It consists of a brief interview and inspection of your home and its major systems. You will receive a written report showing ways to reduce electricity consumption and an energy conservation kit. Residential electric customers served by the City should call Customer Service at (352) 735-7105 for more information or to set up an appointment for a home energy audit.
Electricity Conservation Videos
The Florida Municipal Power Agency (FMPA) has released a series of 15 brief educational videos to show residential customers how to conserve electricity and save money on their utility bills.
Customer-Owned Renewable Generation
Customers who install a renewable energy generation system (RGS) on their homes or businesses, such as a solar photovoltaic (PV) system, can interconnect with the city's distribution system and receive a billing credit for the electricity produced by the system.
