The Records Unit is responsible for electronic filing and maintaining of traffic citations, traffic accidents, written reports and trespass warnings generated by the patrol bureau. Many information records are also kept in hard copy form. Both hard copies and electronic records are held in compliance with rigid Florida record retention laws.
Staffed by two Records Clerks, records are made available to the public from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm, Monday through Friday, with the exception of holidays. Each year, the Records Unit processes hundreds of requests for information from the public including reports, pictures, and digital video, as well as hundreds of internal documents. Records personnel are also responsible for electronic fingerprinting which is accomplished by a state of the art scanner.
