John Tucker was elected to the Mount Dora City Council for District 3 in November 2016. John moved to Mount Dora is 2000. Prior to Mount Dora, John lived in Orlando Florida, the greater Philadelphia Pennsylvania area and suburban Washington D.C. John and his wife Paula have 4 children, a daughter-in-law, a son in law and 2 grandchildren.
John has a Bachelor of Science Degree in Political Science from Frostburg State University, Frostburg Maryland. John retired in 2005 after serving 30 years as a United States Postal Inspector. During his career, John investigated such crimes as mail fraud, mail bombs, robberies and burglaries of postal service facilities and theft of mail. John worked on the bomb security task force assigned to the 2002 Salt Lake Olympic games and was an instructor at the Postal Inspection Service Bomb School from 1999 to 2004.
Since his retirement from federal law enforcement, John has been employed as the fraud supervisor for a Florida based insurance company. John and Paula started a small business in Mount Dora in 2013. John served on the Community Redevelopment Advisory Committee in 2013 and 2014 and is a current member of both the Mount Dora Chamber of Commerce and Visit Mount Dora.
