Waste Management Service Information

Garbage and Recycling

Effective February 1, 2021, all waste collected at the curb will now be transported to a Waste-to-Energy Plant (WTE). This Plant safely incinerates waste to generate electricity. Therefore, residents no longer are required to wash and separate recycling products from the garbage. However, customers are encouraged to continue using both the garbage and recycling carts. WM Recycling Changes

Those who wish to continue traditional recycling can bring their items to the Downtown Mount Dora recycling compactors or any of the Lake County Drop-off recycling sites. The following is a list of the Downtown Mount Dora recycling compactors:

  1. City parking lot at Southwest corner of E. 5th and N. Baker St. (400 block of N Baker St.)

  2. City parking lot at Northeast corner of E. 3rd and N. Donnelly St. (300 block of N Donnelly St)

  3. City parking lot at Northeast corner of W. 4th and Alexander St. (400 block of Alexander St.)

Bulk Trash Pickup

The disposal of household appliances including, televisions, computer monitors, washers, dryers, stoves and refrigerators, all require a special trash pickup to be scheduled. Usually, there is no charge to residential customers for pickup of these items. Refrigerators and freezers need to have the doors removed or taped shut before they are placed outside for collection.  Furniture, small electronics, and mattresses can be picked up with regular household garbage pickup. CPUs will NOT be picked up. They are considered household hazardous waste and will need to be taken directly to the Lake County Landfill by the resident.

Yard Debris

Yard debris is defined as grass clippings, leaves, shrubbery and tree cuttings, pine needles, palm fronds, etc. Plastic planting pots, ground cover sheeting, lumber and fencing are not considered yard debris materials. Yard debris can be no more than 4 feet in length and no more than 6 inches in diameter. Smaller items must be bagged or containerized and larger items must be bundled and tied, and stacked neatly curbside. All yard debris must be in reasonable amounts. Landscape contractor generated yard debris must be removed by the contractor. Household garbage and yard debris must be separated by a space for proper collection. A separate truck collects yard debris. Do not use either of the carts provided by WM-Waste Management for yard debris.

All household garbage and yard debris must be curbside by 7:00 AM on the scheduled pickup day.
