The Mount Dora Police Department has an Animal Control Unit assigned to the Patrol Services Bureau. The Animal Control Unit is responsible for enforcing the ordinances pertaining to animals within the City of Mount Dora. This includes, but is not limited to, domestic animals, nuisance animals, wildlife, and responding to sick and/or injured animals, just to name a few.
The Animal Control Unit consists of one Animal Control Officer who is a Certified Animal Enforcement Officer. As with any specialty, the Animal Control Officer must routinely attend training to maintain his certification and to gain additional knowledge on the management of domestic and nuisance animals.
