As a “Tree City USA” designee, the City of Mount Dora is committed to sustaining the City’s urban forest. This is why we are pleased to announce the new Neighborhood Tree Program beginning in October.
The purpose of this program is to promote properly placed trees that will grow well and create a cooler and greener environment for residents and visitors to Mount Dora. The City intends to assist eligible individuals with proper placement of trees from a city tree bank. Available donations and, as appropriate, city resources will fund the tree bank. The tree bank may offer various species of trees to eligible residents depending on availability and funding.
Program eligibility is limited to those who own property within the City of Mount Dora’s city limits. Tree placement must be in the front yard, or side yard on corner lots, of this privately owned property. The area must be within 20 feet or less from the City right of way. After an application and approval process, city crews will install the tree in the approved location. Maintenance of the planted tree will become the responsibility of the property owner.
